Around Oregon -- Benham Falls

Sharing some photos from over the summer. This is a trail in the Deschutes National Forest on the other side of the river from the Lava Lands [where the astronauts trained for the Moon].

video

Here, we're looking at the lava flow on the other side of the river.

Despite the alien manipulated mosquitoes trying to devour us, the best thing about living where I do is beautiful places like this.

DL Hammons of Cruising Altitude is hosting the Deju Vu blogfest on December 16th. Easy as you post up an article you wrote BC - before comments.

Posted a photo of comet Garrad taken at the observatory this summer on the website's blog -- M. Pax. Will be talking about Odyssey 5 tomorrow (where I learned more about transhumans by a former transhuman -- Peter Weller (Robocop)). Odyssey 5 was a series on Showtime.

See you here next week for IWSG -- Insecure Writers Support Group, hosted by Alex J. Cavanaugh -- and I don't know what my other post will be about yet. It'll be a surprise.

Beautiful! I love being outdoor in nature. It calms me. Of course, there are so many places I haven't been and would love to visit.

Wow that looks beautiful, nature is so inspirational. I love the trees, I am a bit of a tree girl when it comes to descriptions in writing, but they are so amazing.

Oh these pics are wonderful. Don't see enough of people's places on the blogs. We should do it more often.

The lava devouring the forest is wild! And the bugs sound vicious.
Thanks for mentioning the IWSG. I wasn't sure what I was going to post until yesterday. An idea will hit you soon!

Oregon is on my list of places to see and live for a summer, working as a Nurse. A working vacation.

M, thank you so much for that video of the rushing rapids. That was a massive soothe to my senses. Not that I was feeling particularly troubled but I just loved it so, I feel even better than I already did.

I gave you a 'cool' vote for that. :)

Oh, beautiful. I haven't managed to get out and enjoy a good walk in a while. I'm in need of one!

Beautiful. I've never been to Oregon. Must do that someday.

Looks beautiful. Never been to Oregon, but hope to get up there one day. It looks a bit like CO, but without John Elway car dealerships.

I love Oregon. My favorite part is driving along 101 and seeing the coast. You are lucky to live there!

Those beautiful pics are definitely teasing me. We have entered the "dead zone" in the midwest. There will be no outdoor signs of life until the end of March. I get SAD every year.

Wow. No wonder why my brother moved to Oregon. Gorgeous.

On my first visit to see my folks in Central Oregon, my dad drove my son & I all around. We went to museum of natural history, the Cascade Lakes Highway, Smith Rock, & Lavaland. Unfortunately, after waiting only a few minutes in line behind maybe 3 cars, we came to the gate station only to turn right back around! We never did get to see it. But all the old lava flows scattered everywhere sure are cool!

I'm going to have to come out and visit you some day, Mary! I remember going to Wallowa Lake as a kid and driving through that side of Oregon a few years ago on the way back from Boise, but I really haven't spent much time out there. Does your observatory offer tours for civilians? ;)

The astronauts trained here in Oregon??!! I did not know that. I can always count on your blog for interesting tidbits! ;-)

Absolutely beautiful...nature is resplendent when you can catch it on a cloudless day.

Wow, what a gorgeous place. I absolutely love the flower picture, just looking at it makes me long for summer to return! I am so not ready for winter. :(

Have a great weekend, Mary!

Such a beautiful place! I really like the pink plant, for some reason. It just looks quite unusual to me (not that I'm good with plants). I don't think I'd be a fan of the mosquitoes either.
